When I go to see a customer and they don’t know what they want on their window, one of the first questions I ask is “Do you want light control?” Usually the answer is “yes”, especially if a television, computer or strong sunlight is involved.

Verticals are still one of the best treatments for sliding glass doors. They easily draw off to the side and provide light control. They’re available in various vinyl patterns, free hanging fabrics and fabric with a vinyl backing. For a truly custom look, your fabric or wallpaper can be inserted in vinyl groovers.

Wood blinds are extremely popular right now. Besides the different slat sizes and colors that are available, you also have the choice of real wood or faux wood. The faux wood is warranted against warping, splitting, or cracking. The new larger slat sizes are wonderful for that “shutter look” in wood blinds. Colorful cotton tapes and wood valances are also available for wood blinds.

There are several new products on the market that fall under blinds and shades. From Hunter Douglas, you’ll find the Silhouette – a fabric horizontal blind with a sheer fabric on the front and back or, the Luminette – a fabric vertical vane with an attached sheer fabric in front.

From Superior Design Products, the soft, beautiful SoftView Venetian Shades or the Ado wrap vertical – a room darkening vertical wrapped in a sheer fabric. Vintage Interiors has working samples and photos for all these new and exciting products. Call Tim to see them today!
